Join the KwaSizabantu Mission to celebrate 50 years of youth conferences

Updated: Jul 4

The KwaSizabantu Mission will host a Thanksgiving event on Sunday, 23 June 2024 at its mission station in Kranskop, KwaZulu-Natal. This event will be the highlight of the celebration of 50 years of youth conferences.  As they celebrate this important milestone in their history, the Mission invites all to celebrate with them.

For fifty years, the Mission has defined standards to share the gospel with the younger generation through youth conferences and other outreaches. This year, the KwaSizabantu Youth Conference will be held from 19 – 25 June 2024.

The program is packed and exceptional speakers were invited to share insightful messages with the youngsters. Three services will be held daily in the auditorium, except on Sunday, 23 June, when only the Thanksgiving service will be held. Services will be streamed daily by the Mission’s community radio station, Radio Khwezi, and more information about the streamings will be readily available on the official website, www.khwezi.org.za

Since 1974, attendance of the KwaSizabantu Youth Conference has increased rapidly, with thousands of children and young people attending these events. Each event has specific themes. This year the theme is derived from 1 Chronicles 16:8, which reminds us to ‘make His deeds known among the people’.

Lidia Dube,  a senior manager and trustee of the Mission, laid the foundation for the youth conference when she shared her testimony and the gospel with small groups all those years back. The small meetings grew into a bigger event after parents from the community asked her to also include their children. Today, two youth conferences are held twice a year. These conference have been instrumental in the past to motivate youngsters to know God’s word, develop a relationship with the Lord, and become active in their church community.

The impact of the KwaSizabantu Youth Conferences is immense. It has become an essential catalyst for recruiting souls for the Kingdom. It also helps young people with serious problems and addictions. The Concerned Young People of South Africa (CYPSA) program has since come into existence to deal with serious social issues such as addiction, child molestation, and human trafficking, to name a few. So far, they’ve helped more than 20,000 young people struggling with addictions. CYPSA also visits schools and prisons to create awareness of drugs and other addictions.

We live in difficult times, and the attacks on children and young people are enormous. Without steadfast role models, it is sometimes impossible for children to grow into full-fledged and happy adults without extra help. The KwaSizabantu Youth Conference is doing incredible work among the young people and fulfilling its vision to render spiritual and physical assistance to whoever may be in need.
