Another legend who deserves flowers while still alive. Legendary Kwaito Artist, Malungelo Kamango (turning 44 this year), is from 1170a Zola North, Gauteng Province in South Africa.
Motivated by legendary Ike Khumalo, “Drencko Drenckoliser”, as popularly known, is also a model, actor and entrepreneur who worked with many great artists in the music industry.
“I was recruited by Kas Ras Hip Hop Crew from Senaone, Soweto and was taught a lot about writing music. I worked hard and gained much recognition from my fans, one artist I give respect is legendary late producer/artist named “Kyllex” Faku, who produced “Yizo Yizo” - sound track for popular TV Drama series Yizo Yizo”, he said.
Many people still have a perception that one is rich because of appearing on TV. However, Drencko added: “ What is the use of being on TV everyday while you do not get any cent from the record company that is using your product to make money while people in the hood think you are rich? If your background is poor, who will borrow your parents money and give them sugar / salt?”
This legend has been hustling in the music industry for a long time. His best highlight was recording a song titled “Sishay Amahoota” which became a soundtrack for an award - winning movie titled “Tsotsi” (2006). In 2007, he recorded voice overs for Zola 7 Cell C Starter Pack. In 2021, he also released a hit song titled “ Cabanga Boy” which is dedicated to the late artist, Spokes H.
“Currently, I am running a projects on Kasi Mobile Bioskop (playing movies for kids, stokvels and couple of Sunday night movies), I also have my own water brand named “DRENCKO POP” (comes in Still, Sparkling and Flavoured water) and by March I'm launching “Drencko Vutha Juice”. I would also like to take this opportunity to say thanks to all people who stood by me and believed in my craft”, he concluded.
Last message to all aspiring upcoming artists is to start small, be strong to the point that you do not mind starting again from the scratch. Do not love material things, invest in buying equipments for the projects you love.
