“Golf is a great game with lots of opportunities – Professional Golfer, Irvin Mazibuko”

Rise Africans Newspaper is so humbled to get an opportunity to have a nice chat with one of the best golfers in South Africa! Our Rising Star no: 184 is none other than Mr Irvin Mazibuko. Irvin (45) is a professional golfer from Kempton Park, Gauteng Province, South Africa.

“Funny part is that I started off as a soccer player and was very good, one day I went to a golf course with my friends and was hooked. I grew up next to Soweto Country Club (golf course), represented Soweto Country Club juniors and was taken to Houghton golf club and became a member. I played amateur golf and represented Central Gauteng. I turned professional in the year 2000 and won Vusi Ngubeni Qualifying School 2003, I was given a lesson and my game improved a lot after that”, he said.

Unlike any other type of sport, golf requires lots of resources for one to succeed in it. The main challenge is money for tournaments and money for preparations. Irvin added that he enjoys playing at Limpopo Championship golf tournament, another big golf tournament taking place in Limpopo Province at Euphoria Golf and Lifestyle Estate.

“Its really tough to advice upcoming young golfers but all I can say is that golf is a great game with lots of opportunities. My biggest dream is to win South African Open”, he concluded.

Rise Africans Newspaper is proud to have a nice chat with Mr Irvin Mazibuko , wishes him all the best and hope that upcoming golfers will get inspired by him.
